Volkswagen's new and upcoming line of electric vehicles, 'The ID. Family' marks the start of a new era of e-mobility. With a goal of making electric vehicles accessible for all, Volkswagen has been expanding its fleet, this time taking their electric line off-road.
At the recent 'ID. Treffen' event in Locarno, Switzerland, fans of electromobility were treated to the unveiling of a brand-new concept vehicle to the ID. Family fleet. The newest addition, the ID. XTREME is the most powerful ID model to date, with all-wheel drive, performance potential and the versatility of the modular electric drive matrix.
The concept vehicle was created by a Technical Development team led by Volkswagen's Andreas Reckewerth and presented as an electrifying surprise at this years' 'ID. Treffen. The event, by and for fans of electric vehicles, includes experts providing insights into the current developments in the field of sustainable mobility.
The ID. XTREME is an extraordinary off-road study with a raised rally running gear, 18-inch off-road wheels, a modified crash member with an additional front bumper and 50 mm-wider wings manufactured by 3D printing. The roof carrier includes additional LED lights and a completely closed aluminum underbody to protect it from the elements. Carefully crafted details give the concept vehicle an authentic off-road look while all-wheel drive equips the vehicle for excursions past regular, paved roads.
Inside, the cockpit features microfibre fabric, revamped seats and elements in the orange accent colour. The vehicle also includes a customized driving noise, developed together with Volkswagen Design specifically for the ID. XTREME. A truly unique adventure.
