The fully redesigned 2024 Atlas family

Volkswagen has unveiled a major refresh of the Atlas family, sparking new standards for one of our most popular vehicles to date. On February 9th, attendees at the Chicago Auto Show were treated to a first look at Volkswagen's fully redesigned 2024 Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport. The new generation signifies a major refresh in the lineup, with significant upgrades in premium materials and enhanced technology compared to its previous models. The 2024 Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport are unmistakably premium.

The seven- and five-seater additions will be powered solely by a four-cylinder turbocharged and direct-injection TSI engine, boasting 269 horsepower. The new engine provides similar power to the outgoing VR6 and is anticipated to provide improved fuel economy overall. An eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive come standard across all trims of the 2024 models and the vehicles' towing capacity is an impressive 5,000 pounds.

New front end designs in 2024 provide greater differentiation between the Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport. On both vehicles, a wide chrome four-bar grille is framed by LED headlights, daytime running lights wrap around the headlights before making their way up to an illuminated lightbar that sits atop the famous and easily-recognizable Volkswagen logo. The Atlas Cross Sport model features a more aggressive rear diffuser than previous models, adding to the differentiation between the two. New wheel designs, ranging from 18 to 20 inches with machine alloy and black finishes are also available for both trims.

Upon entering the revitalized Atlas, drivers and passengers are met with upgraded, premium materials and standard high-end comfort features. While the refreshed Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport maintain the same underpinnings of the successful outgoing models, the spacious interior of each vehicle receives a major upgrade for the 2024 model. Three-zone climate control gives passengers the ability to control the temperature of the vehicle in three different zones, driver, passenger and rear, while ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel adds to overall comfort. Premium materials are adopted throughout the upscale cockpit, including a leatherette-trimmed soft-touch dash and center console. Ambient lighting with 30 colour choices allows passengers to further enhance and customize their experience, while an innovative backlit dash décor featuring the model's name elevates the new design one step further.

The refreshed Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport offers a more connected experience, as enhanced technology integrates itself effortlessly throughout the new generation model. A 12-inch floating infotainment display is an elegant focal point in the redesigned cockpit, with standard wireless App-Connect, wireless charging and six USB-C ports with 45-watt fast charging within reach. IQ Drive driver assistance technology is now standard in the Atlas, with lane centering, object alert and capacitive steering wheel technology to make driving easier and safer

The 2024 Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport reimagines the generations of the past, offering enhanced technology, upgraded interior designs and materials and a livelier powertrain. The refreshed models are set to arrive in Canada Summer 2023.
